A Year Later, Welcome eBay to the Magento Family!

Earlier today, eBay mentioned at its analyst day that it has made a sizable investment in Magento. Since that time, we’ve been flooded with calls and e-mails, so we thought we would take this opportunity to address the questions raised.

Yes, it is true. As many of you assumed, eBay made an investment in Magento approximately one year ago, and we could not have asked for a better partner in business. eBay not only supports our strong belief in open source, community and innovation, but they have helped us further it.

In the past year, we’ve grown from 90 to 230+ employees, our revenues have tripled and we’re adding more enterprise customers each month than our competitors do in a year. Needless to say, we think that eBay’s belief, vision and support for Magento was a smart investment that the entire Magento community has benefited from.

One of the things that really sealed the deal for us was a shared vision for community, collaboration, partnership, and transparency. They have stood on the sidelines supporting Magento as we have carried out our company’s mission to enable the eCommerce ecosystem’s success.

It’s an incredibly exciting time in our organization’s history. At our recently completed sold-out inaugural Imagine eCommerce conference, we gave conference attendees, who came from around the world, a first look at our new Magento Go product and the Magento Go Platform, which we feel is a major step in the Magento community’s continued growth. We also highlighted our continued investments in our deployed product, including the Enterprise Edition, which we consider the cornerstone of our business.

These recent announcements and eBay’s commitment to Magento and its ecosystem will help us to further our vision to be at the core of eCommerce, wherever eCommerce is happening and we’re excited to publicly welcome eBay to the Magento family!
